About this experience

This full-day tour combines two of Beijing's most significant cultural landmarks. You'll visit the Mutianyu Great Wall, known as one of the best-preserved and less crowded sections of this ancient fortification, before heading to the Summer Palace, the largest royal park in China. The palace complex dates back to 1750 and served as the residential and entertainment retreat for emperors of the Qing Dynasty.

The Summer Palace spans three distinct areas: the political activity zone centered at the Hall of Benevolence and Longevity, the empress living quarters around the Hall of Jade Billows and Hall of Joy and Longevity, and the scenic tour route along the famous Long Corridor, rear hill, and western sector. Located in Beijing's Haidian District, this UNESCO World Heritage site underwent major reconstruction after damage from 19th and early 20th-century invasions.

You can choose from several tour options, including group tours with round-trip transportation and a guide, or private car service with admission tickets for groups of 2 to 7+ people. Private tour options offer more flexibility to explore at your own pace with 10-hour car rental.

What to expect

Your day begins with a visit to the Mutianyu Great Wall, where you'll have time to walk along the ancient fortification and take in views of the surrounding landscape. After exploring the wall, you'll travel to the Summer Palace in the Haidian District of Beijing.

At the Summer Palace, you'll discover the three main sectors of this imperial retreat. Walk through the political activity area at the Hall of Benevolence and Longevity, explore the empress living quarters including the Hall of Jade Billows and Hall of Joy and Longevity, and follow the scenic tour route along the Long Corridor. The rear hill and western sector offer additional gardens and pavilions to explore. Depending on your ticket type, you'll either follow a guided itinerary with round-trip transportation or enjoy the flexibility of private car service to move between sites at your own pace.
