The National Gallery has improved a lot — from its layout and artwork to the overall ambiance. There are both permanent and seasonal exhibitions, and both are worth visiting! As a local, I’m really impressed — the gallery now feels on par with those abroad. Love seeing how much it has grown! Whether you’re a local or a tourist, definitely add it to your itinerary. It’s a great way to experience something new in Jakarta

The National Gallery was my favorite attraction of my trip to Jakarta. I got to see hundreds of wonderful works and learn more about the history and culture of Indonesia. If I didnt have a flight to go home today I could have spent all day there.

This is an excellent gallery illustrating the history of Indonesian art from the Dutch colonial period to the vibrant art scene of today. The story is complicated by political pressures and events, and by the challenge of innovating within a set of deeply embedded (and valued) traditional art forms, without slavishly copying from elsewhere. My only reservation: I would have liked to see more. A far better cultural experience than the Muzeum Macan.

During my visit, there was a NYALA exhibition to commemorate Diponegoro Prince (Pangeran Diponegoro). Although, my ultimate point of visiting was to see the Mang Moel's Knitting Artwork at the permanent exhibition section. It was unique and enchanting, like entering Ariel's world. I also like the Zinkend Schip experience there, like I was really in the middle of a stormy ocean. This gallery is a good spot to spend your free time on a relaxed but fruitful trip, especially if you love art and history.

Located just across the Gambir station, i think everyone needs to visit this place at least once. Newly renovated, the place is beautiful and got loads of cool collection of indonesian artists from every era. It turns out our government knows how to preserve history!😉
