<p><img src="https://dimg04.tripcdn.com/images/1lo5612000gb00xg8080B_Z_1000_0.jpg"></p><p>The Chung Tai World Museum has a rich collection of Buddhist historical relics. The main exhibition axes in the museum are based on the three categories of "text, image, and classics", conveying the three main themes of "text to convey the truth, image to impress the heart, and sutra to spread the Dharma". "Literature Carries the Dao" mainly uses rubbings of inscriptions from past dynasties to showcase the Dao, rituals, literature, and art in Chinese traditional culture. "Images to Imprint the Heart" focuses on the museum's collection of Buddhist cultural relics, statues and statue steles, presenting the religious spirit, connotation and artistic form of Buddhist culture.</p><p><img src="https://dimg04.tripcdn.com/images/1lo3c12000gb01l7d3CD6_Z_1000_0.jpg"></p><p>"Spreading the Dharma through Scriptures" focuses on stone rubbings of sutras from past dynasties, Buddhist manuscripts in museums, and the Book of Filial Piety, explaining the cultural heritage of classics and the significance of sutra engraving. The Chung Tai World Museum building complex uses the "Western-style Chinese architecture" approach to present the beauty of Chinese architecture.</p><p><img src="https://dimg04.tripcdn.com/images/1lo1m12000gb01w9xA30F_Z_1000_0.jpg"></p><p>Its exterior shape is similar to the Chang'an City of the Tang Dynasty, which means "a city that strictly protects the Dharma" in Buddhism. It is a city that protects Buddhism and historical relics. The hip-and-gable roof and the imagery of ancient city walls represent the spatial and temporal context of the fusion of tradition and modernity, the East and the West, and Buddhism and Chinese culture.</p><p><img src="https://dimg04.tripcdn.com/images/1lo5j12000gb0153q8537_Z_1000_0.jpg"></p><p>The Woodcarving Branch Museum (formerly the Zhongtaishan Museum) is about 800 meters away from the main museum. It is located in the northeast corner of the Zhongtaishan Temple campus. It was renovated from the original building of the Zhongtaishan Museum and displays the museum's collection of wooden Buddhist statues from past dynasties. Among them, the statues from the Liao and Jin dynasties are particularly exquisite and very rare.</p><p><img src="https://dimg04.tripcdn.com/images/1lo5612000gb021mb25ED_Z_1000_0.jpg"></p><p><img src="https://dimg04.tripcdn.com/images/1lo4j12000gb01i6c2869_Z_1000_0.jpg"></p>

If you love historical Buddha figures on display then this place is for you. Hundreds if not thousands of buddhas made of sandstone , limestone wood and bronze to see, mostly dated back thousand years or so in China and India. Unfortunately they don't want you to take photos inside so I respect the rule and didn't take any. This place is amazing and huge, along with the wooden sculptures museum and an awesome awe inspiring monastery a bit further down the road with the same ticket.Staffs are super friendly and willing to help and explain. You have to come see it for yourself. This is a must place to visit in Taichung area.

It’s huge museum, has many buddhism things from around the world to see, I guess need more than 3 hours to see the details of them. Prepare for long walk from 1st area nearby the Chung Tai Chan to 2nd area of its museum. Get best offer for tickets by following their social media account or special price for local. Friendly staff.

It’s one of best place you may feel the awareness of your heart. It’s highly recommended to spend whole day with families to enjoy the peace all surrounding. There are 2 ChungTai museums nearby. Very nice arts inside, worth to spending time understand every history and detail of them. It’s a world Budda history. Building itself is huge and very beautiful. There is a vegetarian restaurant to enjoy lunch and tea time at. Parking is convenient. Specially, people met here all showed humble and nice personality, (suddenly and only here?!) and suppose it’s human nature when your life was given to earth. Enjoy the stay, enjoy the self awareness. 🙏🏻

An awesome museum with Buddhist artifacts collection. I learned a lot from well trained docents. If I had more time, I could stay there whole day.
