The "Umeda Sky Building" is a skyscraper that also features the Kuchu Teien Observatory deck with a superb view from the height of 173m on the ground, the Showa retro shopping street "Takimikoji", an art museum and a movie theater. From the observatory deck on the 40F, you may go outside on the outdoor deck to get a 360-degree full view of the Osaka city while enjoying comfortable breeze. At "cafe SKY 40", the original home-roasted coffee using carefully selected beans is provided. A wide range of menus is available, including selections of a wide variety of beer from around the world and freshly baked waffles unique to Umeda Sky Building. At "UMEDA SKYBLDG GALLERY SHOP", the "Heart Lock" oath key that may be attached to the oath fence at the roof-top Lumi-deck or in the store is also available other than original goods. "Sky Lounge Stardust" and "Chinese Restaurant Sangu" are also available to allow you to enjoy your meal while looking at the superb view.

We left Kyoto and headed to Osaka next. This is our second destination in Osaka upon arrival (the first being our hotel ha ha). We tried to get here by sunset but wasn't able to make it due to the long queue to get up here. Getting tickets in advance is definitely a good idea if you have time constraints. Nevertheless, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves! The observatory platform is huge. Going up and outside is amazing. The night view of the Osaka skyline is beautiful and captivating. We spent a long time here taking photos from multiple angles. I have to remind you guys that it can get pretty windy and chilly here depending on the time of visit so do plan ahead if possible. Since it was full moon that night, they set up some telescopes for us to view the moon from the deck. It was such a great experience. I also love the blacklighted walkway outside giving us the feeling like we were walking on a carpet of stars! Very cool indeed!

The view from the tower is magnificent, especially at night. On the upper deck, please ensure all hats and loose items are secured, as there can be a reasonable amount of wind. No food or drinks are allowed either. The upper deck also has blacklights installed, which let colours shine, such as the dinosaur in the attached picture and especially the starscape on the walking path. To save time, please purchase tickets in advance. The trip is well worth it and can be easily reached via Umeda station.

The open-air rooftop offers great panoramic views of Osaka, especially at sunset, though the experience depends heavily on weather. • Ticket price is a bit high for the short amount of time you actually spend at the top. • Can get very crowded during peak hours, making it harder to enjoy the view or take photos. Tip: When queues are long, staff often recommend using a shorter waiting line (around 5 minutes). You skip the glass elevator on the way up, but the best part is the skyline from the open-air roof—and you still ride the glass elevator on the way down, so you won’t miss that experience. Worth visiting once for the skyline, but not an essential stop unless you’re already in the Umeda area.

The queue in the mid morning on a Wednesday was pretty long. The structure of the building looks magnificent and we actually wanted to take the escalator up just to see the sights but the queue was too long for us. 🙈 maybe next time!
