A truly surprising museum, housed in a building that is a gem in itself: Escher in Het Paleis, the former royal residence Lange Voorhout Palace, located right in the heart of The Hague. Each room offers a beautiful blend of historical elegance and Escher’s visionary world. Iconic artworks like “Relativity” and “Metamorphosis” are absolutely mesmerizing, and there are also fun interactive installations where visitors can take pictures inside optical illusions — a great touch for kids and adults alike. What really struck me was the presence of stunning crystal chandeliers, each one different and designed by a contemporary artist — they add a unique atmosphere that perfectly complements Escher’s dreamlike universe. The museum is well-organized, not too big, and ideal for a relaxed visit, even with children. An inspiring, beautiful, and memorable experience. Highly recommended!

I had a free afternoon in a The Hague and decided to pop in to see the MC Escher exhibition on a whim. What a great decision. The show not only is a wonderful retrospective of Escher’s work but also shows a collection of Anne Desmet, a UK artist’s work alongside. Both artists are exceptional technicians. The building is wonderful too, the art divine, do yourself a favour and go experience to artists who are in my opinion under appreciated.

This is officially one of my favorite museums. It was the coolest walking through and seeing all of his artwork. The home itself is gorgeous and we loved walking the staircases and seeing the architecture.

An unbelievable experience I had no idea how prolific Escher was. Great duo expo with Anne Desmet who is never heard of but was equally, if not more impressive. Fabulous setting too in the palace.
