A magical night on the Chao Phraya – great food, views, and vibes We had a fantastic evening with The Planet Cruise. From start to finish, the experience was well-organised and genuinely enjoyable. Cruising along the Chao Phraya at night, with iconic landmarks beautifully lit up, made for an unforgettable backdrop — from Wat Arun to ICONSIAM and the stunning bridges along the river. The buffet spread was generous and well-presented, with plenty of variety to suit different tastes. Food stations were efficiently managed despite the crowd, and the crew kept things moving smoothly. The atmosphere onboard was lively yet comfortable, enhanced by entertaining live performances that added energy without overpowering the experience. Yes, the queue and waiting to board the cruise can feel a little chaotic, especially during peak hours, but once you’re onboard, it’s absolutely worth the wait. The views, food, and overall experience more than make up for it. What really stood out was the overall ambience — great lighting, vibrant colours, and panoramic views that made the whole evening feel festive and special. It’s a lovely way to experience Bangkok at night, whether you’re celebrating something or simply soaking in the city from the river. Highly recommended for visitors and locals alike looking for a memorable night cruise with good food, great views, and a fun atmosphere.

Overall, the experience was okay — not the best, but not bad either. It’s definitely nice to do a cruise on the river, and the views were enjoyable. However, I felt the experience was over-advertised, and my expectations ended up being higher than the reality. The main disappointment was the food. According to the description, the buffet was supposed to include seafood, salmon sashimi, and beef steak. In reality, we did have shrimp and mussels, but there was no beef steak and no sashimi. The rest of the buffet was quite basic and average: white rice, fried rice, 2–3 simple salads, fruits, tom yum soup, mushroom soup, pasta with two sauces, fried onion rings, pad thai, fried chicken, and a few other standard items. The food was edible, but far from what was promised. For the price, the buffet should be better. On the positive side, the cruise itself was pleasant. The staff and crew were very friendly and welcoming, the music was okay, and the total cruise time was around two hours.

A Bangkok river dinner cruise is one of the must do activities when visiting the city. Originally booked a Princess Cruise but due to some internal issues they upgraded to the Planet. Booked weeks in advance so just needed to check in from 7pm for 8pm cruising on a Sunday evening. Arrived at 645pm and the whole checking in process until boarding at around 810pm was horrendous. Huge crowds shoulder to shoulder being shunted about from queue to queue like a cattle run. Staff were scurrying around and seemed under constant pressure and the frustration was growing with patrons. Eventually got sitting at the dinner table by 815pmish. After setting off there was a huge rush for the food with queues around 10 minutes to start filling your plate. The food was hit and miss. For example carbonare spaghetti and tomato sauce was atrocious. Beef stew was quite good. It really was a mixed bag. Drinks on board were expensive, around 200 baht for a small beer. Entertainment was enjoyable. A Filipina singer most of the night and a couple of Thai traditional dancers made an appearance. No doubt though the highlight is seeing the temples and landmarks all lit up whilst cruising by, quite spectacular. This is my third cruise here over twenty years and probably my last. A lot more boats these days and the piers getting too congested which sets you off on a negative start to the evening. But like I said, it's one of those experiences you must try at least once when visiting this great city.

The food was delicious, the show was fantastic, the staff were very friendly and attentive, the scenery along the Chao Phraya River is worth seeing, and the boat trip was excellent value for money. I highly recommend it!

My 91 year old father came to Thailand to visit my girlfriend and myself for almost a month. We decided to spend 3 days in Bangkok before sending him off back to America. My girlfriend and I had the experience of enjoying a dinner river cruise back in December and we knew my father would enjoy the experience. He had the time of his life. I think I thought him wanting to break free and dance. Thank you The Planet Cruise for a wonderful evening!
